Melissa didn't feel like she was an outsider in Australia, because there were many Americans even on campus. She learned different cultures from her roommates who were from Germany, Canada, Hong Kong, and Australia and they all got along with them. They had a culture night which everyone cooked their own country's food. She found out that her friend who she hadn't seen for 3 years was also studying abroad where 1 hour and 30 minutes away from where she was. She thought it was crazy that they met up again in Australia even they didn't see each other in their home town. Her roommate made her promise that Melissa has to come back to Australia for her wedding. Melissa had many exchange students at home when she was in high school so she was thinking that study abroad is one part of college. She misses little things such as candy which she loves, and a bird which woke her up at 7am every morning. She suggests for people who are thinking about study abroad in the future that you don't need to spend a lot of money to have a good time. You can have a great time and make great friends without spending money.
